Ambrose Bierce called divorce “a resumption of diplomatic relations and rectification of boundaries.” That sort of commitment to civil discourse is key to Cheryl Sena’s method.
“I contacted you when I was staying at a Battered Women's Shelter. The children's father, was an officer in the military, had a bad temper and he hit me and the children again and again. I didn't know where to turn. You helped me to obtain a restraining order and a therapist for my children.
With your help, I filed for divorce and was able to get full custody of the children, as well as support. We even got the court's permission to move back to my parent's home in the Midwest. I've been working with my own therapist and learning how to be a good parent and a strong and powerful woman. Thank you so much!”

Of course, sometimes it is not so civil. Ending your relationship can be a difficult and stressful process. Having an experienced and committed attorney representing and advocating for you can make the difference between getting a divorce and surviving a divorce.
A divorce can run the gamut from a simple and amicable dissolution with no children and few assets, to lengthy and complex matters requiring the intervention of the courts. We have the experience to be your advocate no matter what the situation, and the commitment to help you resolve the issues and reach agreements with as little stress and cost as possible.
Whenever possible, we will work to try and meet the needs of you and your family through mediation and negotiation and avoid the necessity of expensive litigation. However, when it is clear that the only way to ensure that your rights are protected is through litigation, we are committed to representing you in court and being your strongest advocate.
A dissolution can also involve disputes over custody, division of property , child and spousal support, visitation rights, domestic violence, and many other legal issues. Even after a divorce is made final, it may be necessary to ask the court to modify an order. Each of these areas requires specific experience that we can provide.
Cheryl Sena is experienced in high-conflict and complex domestic relations cases, but we will not recommend litigation as an option until it becomes absolutely necessary.
If you believe a divorce is in your future, whether or not you have discussed it with your spouse, the earlier you know your rights under the law, the better off you will be.
